July 30 starting around 4pm
Bring something to grill and the family (kids very welcome). I’ll (JimK) be making some sides. Adult beverages with responsibility are certainly welcome. Note the preponderance of “beer snobs” in ALE these days – so that Bud Light you were thinking about bringing will go home with you afterwards.
Note: my house is also inhabited by 4 cats. If you have allergies, you’ve been warned.
Email Jim Kinney off list for the address.
I don’t have my Flying Car, but I got my 3D printer Printing objects with Linux
An all-talking, all-singing, all-dancing review of the current state of the 3D printing world, featuring an actual working model of a Prusa Mendel i3 printing out parts while you watch in slack-jawed wonderment. I’ll talk about equipment, costs, and setting up your Linux box to talk to your printer. (It’s way easier than Mac or Windows). We can also cover a bit about open-source 3D design software available for Linux.
Join us at ALE Central for Charles Shapiro.
Charles Shapiro is a multi-talented character. There’s no other way to put it. He plays music on the recorder, juggles fire, rides a unicycle and can code at 80+ WPM in a variety of languages. Lightning Talks!
So how about the meeting attendees come with their own 1-2 minute topic of how Linux is used by them to get something done. Maybe the first project you did using Linux that convinced you Linux was a tool that you wanted to know more about.
As Thursday is St. Patrick’s day, we will certainly adjourn to Melton’s for libations. The crowd there may be larger than normal.
Please email Jim or JD off list ASAP if you want to present.
Intro to PostgreSQL Programming in C
C is such a low level free-for-all that high level APIs can

interfaces tailored to a variety of application designs.
This presentation aims to demonstrate key database operations
using classic sequential programming and the C standard
library.
