ALE maintains a general mailing list for it’s members and community associates, as well as additional lists for relevant employment opportunities and to support our affiliated independent study groups. Our lists are open to anyone who cares to subscribe to them by clicking on the TITLE links below to visit the appropriate Mailman subscription page. Once subscribed, you can update your subscription options by clicking on the tile links above and logging in.
Note that all of our lists is restrict message size to 40kB including attachments, thus plain text postings are greatly preferred even though HTML/RTF encoded email is allowed. Appropriate attachments will be in Openly Documented, Publicly Distributable formats like ODT and PDF for documents or JPG and PNG for images.
- ale:
The main ALE mailing list is for general questions, discussions, help requests and information related to GNU Linux and Free, Liberating Open Source Software (FLOSS). Only subscribers may post to the list, though it is not heavily moderated — Off Topic comments are both allowed and common, but should be noted as [OT] in the subject line. Average traffic is currently 15 to 20 messages a day, so some users prefer the digest mode subscription. A public archive of the list is available at http://www.ale.org/pipermail/ale/.
- ale-jobs:
The ALE-JOBS mailing list is for those offering or seeking employment opportunities in the Linux, Open Source and associated I.T. communities. Posting to the list is fully moderated so that anyone may post employment offers by simply emailing them to ale-jobs [at] ale.org . Employment offers outside the scope of Linux, Unix and Open Source development may or may not be posted at the moderator’s discretion.
- ale-study:
The ALE-STUDY mailing list is for communications directly related to our independent study groups, currently a New To Linux group and a Linux Certification group. .
