[ale] automounted externals don't show up in 'df'

Try manually adding said devices to /etc/mtab before invoking df.

NOTE that while on Unix "df /dev/something" should work regardless of
whether or not it is mounted, this does not work under Linux.  IMHO,
Linux is broken in this respect.
