[ale] problems with Cendyne 32x10x40 USB CD-RW with SUSE, 9.2 and FC3

I think it has a lot to do with how the kernel uses scsi emulation
with a USB device, I may switch the internal DVD drive in that machine
out for a 52x32x52 CD-RW drive so I won't have to use the USB CD-RW
drive anymore.
