[ale] Added an IDE CD-ROM Drive

Ok, I have a Red Hat 5.1 machine that initially had a PCI-bus SCSI card in
it and it was booting to once of its two SCSI drives and living a happy
productive life.

Then I added a cheapie PCI-bus single-channel IDE card that had come with
the machine initially (and I know once worked under RH 5.1) and connected
it to an IDE CD-ROM drive that once worked with that very same IDE card.
Problem: I have no /mnt/cdrom. How can I get the machine to recognize the
CD-ROM drive after-the-fact like this? Oh, by the way, FWIW, the door
won't open (and I really think I plugged the power connector in!).

Help?
