I haven't posted in a long time. I thought I'd mention I got a Logitech MX
Master 3 mouse. It is bluetooth and can interact directly with a bluetooth
enabled laptop and it comes with a usb dongle that it can pair with for
machines that don't have bluetooth.

Anyway, running Ubuntu MATE 18.04 on a Eurocom X8E laptop, I found that
after updating the bluetooth stack, I was able to pair with the mouse. All
the fancy buttons and wheels work as expected. In Google Chrome I can
scroll up/down with the middle scroll wheel. With the side thumb
scroll wheel I can scroll horizontally. And finally the two thumb buttons
go back and forth through the browser history. All this just worked, I
didn't have to map buttons or functions.

There is the possibility of pairing with two additional computers since the
mouse has three slots for pairings. I haven't tried that. The mouse is
really smooth, well made and high quality. No clicks on the scroll wheels,
which I prefer after my last mouse.

Adding that bluetooth ppa upgraded from IIRC 5.48 to 5.5. Here is the
command I used:
*sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bluetooth/bluez*
Before upgrading, I couldn't pair, and a web search showed others having
problems with pairing with devices. Afterwards it was seamless and fast.

Sincerely,
Dow
