different read voltage than your desktop and that card is just on the edge
of that voltage being OK. So a very tiny variation in voltage due to
current load on phone may be enough to make the card present as not
installed.

Also the SD cards are highly susceptible to vibration effects. Carrying a
phone around (and having it always on vibrate!) will stress the card (I had
a zillion pics on one that was totally unrecoverable when it died :-(  ).
Don't drop a microcenter SD card from a height of more than about 1 foot.
They get really grumpy. No brand of CF likes an impact from 2 feet (i.e.
knocked off the desk - grr).


Android updates: the latest update removed the ability to mount my phone as
a drive. There's a new protocol that is flaky under Linux (Google! WTF!!)
that is required to read the card on the phone when USB connected to my
laptop.
