[ale] OT: Disposal of standard fluorescent lamps?

Unlike fluorescent tubes that do indeed flash at 120Hz (not 60Hz), CFLs 
are energized at about 40kHz or higher.  You will have returned a slight 
120Hz component to your home lighting with the halogens - which, 
incidentally, also have tungsten filaments despite their name.
