When I switched to GoDaddy, there were a few other less expensive
options, though by now I don't remember what they were. However, when I
called their sales lines to ask them about pricing and transfer rates
and all of that, I had to ask them to repeat what they said so many
times and they treated me like I was an asshole---and I wasn't even a
customer yet. If they treated potential customers that way, I couldn't
imagine how awful they treated their customers, so I decided it wasn't
worth it.

FWIW, I don't pay attention to anyone's advertising. That's not how I
play the game of finding services. I just try to find the best place to
be and if I'm not happy, I move. I'm a GEICO customer too; people tell
me they have some pretty awful ads out there. I don't care, though I
might move from them anyway, since my insurance hasn't gone down in five
years and it should have by now.
