Ok. Mind you, I haven't actually personally used Vista yet,  
so this isn't much of an informed bias. And a lot of it may  
just be "It's Microsoft."

Zeroth is knowledge. I have some knowledge of Unix/Linux  
while my basic knowledge of Windows is limited to  
nonexistent.

First is the matter of resources. Resources => power  
consumed and new hardware.  I'm running Ubuntu 7.10  
comfortably on a sub-gighertz laptop, although I'll admit  
I'm not really hammering things either. Want to try that  
with Vista? Didn't think so.

Second is the matter of supported architectures. I've got  
Linux derivatives running on powerpc stuff, intel stuff,  
and whatever the Nokia810 runs on. Getting a single exploit  
to run against that collection should be a challenge, not  
that it couldn't be done. So I guess part of it is a  
security via non-monoculture sort of reaction to  
Microsoft's market domination.

Reviewing the above, it looks kinda pathetic. More like  
excuses than reasons. But I'm happy where I am so there!
