Thanks to all that replied. I was using Nautilus to burn the cd. I still
used Nautilus however I right clicked on the iso file and selected "burn
cd" instead of dropping it in the CD/DVD Creator window. For whatever
the difference is, it worked great that way. I took the cd, booted my
mom's computer and now have it up and running with Debian Sarge. One of
these days I will figure out why I can't burn a cd from the command line
with cdrecord :-\
