If your dad does not need HTML mail, Forte Agent might be a much safer 
alternative. Not free and has a steep learning curve...

People either love it or hate it, seems to be no in between. No question 
which camp I fall in:) Not only still use it for usenet news, I'm currently 
the only beta tester running it on Linux. (CrossOver Office, but it can run 
under Wine)
