zgv : 

Not an image editor, but an extremely fast image viewer that can be 
run through a console (no X needed) and can rotate pictures and create a 
slideshow. Creates a set of thumbnails and lets you choose from it.
When you just want to view a large bunch of pictures, zgv is awesome.
