[ale] Can you point me in a good direction

After looking at the current docs on www.kde.org for kaddressbook, you 
probably should upgrade because even though the docs show a date of creation 
of last spring they are a lot more complete than what RH9 provides.  I 
basically have no manual while the docs on the web are very complete.  You 
still may not get what you want in the editor pane since that is considered an 
extension, not a part of the main program.  I would check out the docs at:

http://docs.kde.org/en/3.2/kdepim/kaddressbook/index.html

See if you can find what you want, but I don't see it myself.
