If you are serious about liking Macon then then send me a resume' off line.
I won't promise anything but qualified people are few and very far between
here.
Might want to look at what the current city government has been up to of
late before moving here though.
The cities finance director is going to the big house and I hope the mayor
isn't far behind her.
>>>Sorry to hear about your being laid off.
As for being laid off well that's just the risk you take.
Free Markets work, I won't moan and groan about losing out.
I was just trying to point out that I do have some perspective on what it is
to be out of a job.
I also wanted to hear what every one thought on the topic without starting a
gigundous flame war. So I tried to commiserate a little.
I'm not so sure the off-shoring trend will ever really take off though as
the language and cultural barriers are a lot to overcome.
In my limited experience off shore programming is only good for simple low
level tasks. All the big time engineering still needs to be done here.
I have seen this afflict other types of engineering as well. My Dad has
spent hours fixing Chinese (or Japanese I can't remember) structural
drawings simply because the chinese firm did not understand the problem they
were trying to solve. Relative costs are different in China too so their
ratios of labor to material cost are different.
That culture barrier isnt going anywhere anytime soon.
