Those searching for jobs online would do well to read this article

Most importantly, do not give them your Social Security Number or mother's
maiden name.  It is a real good idea not to give out your city of birth
or exact birthdate, only the year of your birth or age but realize that
it is illegal in the U.S.  for an employer to ask someone their age.

If they ask for too much information, it may be a scam or they may be
incompetent at computer security.
