It may be a performance issue or a real bug. I have only used Cinelerra
a little bit. I was able to import and edit and merge 2 separate video
streams and blend in a pair of audio tracks. They were all short so it
wasn't a big load on the system.

I have _never_ been able to get a compile to succeed on Cinelerra or its
predecessor, Broadcast 2000. I have always had to use binaries. But I
never have tried to compile on a "standard" distribution (as shipped).
