Both Xine and Ogle now make use of a library called libdvdcss, which
doesn't use the original DeCSS code, which made use of an encryption key
that a hacker gleaned from a system that did a poor job of obscuring it.

Instead, libdvdcss simply brute-forces the key.  On modern systems (which,
if you're using a DVD drive, you most likely have), performance impact is
negliglible.

At least that's how the "ShaolinuxTemple" guy explained it when he showed
us how to rip DVDs at ALE-Central "back in the day".
