[ale] signed numbers from as/400 file?

I asked a friend of mine who works with 400s and he sent me this. He's
ususally more specific with his help, but he is really busy this week. Hope
it helps.

The field that the guy is using is probably a packed field. He needs to
create another logical or physical file to "explode" the field. If he has
iSeries Navigator V5R1 or later there is a graphical way to retrieve the
information with out having to create DDS or anything. There is some IBM
notes on this if you need them.
