Methinks it is a side effect of riding a mountain bike (off road) 15 miles.
Try it, and see how much water you drink. Next, try the Atkins diet and see
how much water you drink. Compare.

Just not here.

Hmmm. My position is that people that are concerned about health, watch their
diet and raise the amount they excercise.
(kick and punch is to fight as diet and exercise is to health)

Your position seems to be that the majority of the people care enough about
their health to diet, BUT don't care enough to raise their level of
excercise. (In this case the fighter is somehow motivated to ineffectively
limit themselves to punching). Following that logic, you could also say that
most people that excercise "don't watch their diet" because they don't have
to - they are losing the weight through excercise. :) Ok.

WOW. You're kidding right? There are TONS (litterally) of obese people loving
you right about now.

Semantics. I am saying keep track of your weight IS part of "treating your
health" but you are implying that one should somehow try to live a healthy
lifestyle WHILE ignoring weight.

You seem to be implying that those who life unheathly lifestyles will have as
many health issues (or die) at the exact same rate as an obese person who
lives an unhealthy lifestyle.
I have a friend who lives an unhealthy lifestyle AND was obese (600 pounds).
The doctors estimated he had about 6 years to live.
He got his stomach stapled and lost 285 pounds right before my eyes (it was
weird because I didn't seem him for about 3-4 months and barely recognized
him. He said there is a free operation he can get to cut off all of that
excess skin and donate it to burn victims. He does not do illegal drugs. Are
you saying he will still die in about 6 years because he doesn't work out and
chews tabacco? His doctors don't seem to think so. We'll see . . . .

Obviously our bodies *were* designed for that type of diet insofar as the
mechanics of the diet work because that is how the body reacts. Continuing
your thought process, you imply that our bodies are not designed to lose
weight in general.
Oh, AND you probably agree that excercise changes your metabolism too.
By your logic, it too must be unhealthy. :) Where do you get this stuff?

Yes. I am saying that. And, you and I probably agree that ALL diets are
effective at reaching one goal or another. I am just adding that Atkins
reaches certain desirable goals quickly. Oh, and I am also adding that
"watching what you eat" and "reducing what you eat" is part of maintaining a
healthy lifestyle (whereas you blatantly say it is healthier to eat more than
3 meals a day):

"It's far healthier to eat more than your fill three times a day
consistently . . ."

> If losing weight and changing your eating habits are your goals, that's

I don't think any of the pro-Atkins people on this list are anti-health. I for
one mentioned that I workout upwards of an hour a day (riding offroad)
(or run 1.3 miles).

Further your above statement directly conflict with themselves:
People who are somewhat overweight can't "achieve the goal living a heathly
lifestyle" while "not making it a goal to lose weight and change eating
habits"

Riiiiiiight.

Well, all of that being said, you are entitled to your opinion about dieters
and the Atkins diet. However, regardless of that opinion, I will still use
the Atkins diet if I ever need to diet again, and I will continue to
excercise daily (and take vitamins), oh - and even eat carbs.

. . . and I'm spent.*

(spent = done with this thread).
