[ale] Ugh! Kernel panic when loading ext3 modules in RHAS2.1 w/kernel 2.4.9-e30.smp

While apparently not the case here, a common problem for panics when booting
up the root partition (for changed systems) is:
1. The kernel lacking a needed driver compiled into the kernel.
2. The lack of a "lilo" command after changing the kernel.
Y'all already knew this.
