What does usbview say when you plug in the joystick?
(cool hint: MPlayer can be controled with a joystick)

Subject: [ale] Hopefully dumb question about USB Joystick
I have a MS Sidewinder usb joystick lying around without a real use for
it, so I decided to get it working with my RH9 system. I'm not a gamer or
sim player, so the motivation is more pride of accomplishment than
despearate need. Stupid thing doesn't work...
When I plug the joystick in, it shows up on the USB subsystem (as seen
with usbview), but the programs "js_demo", "fgjs", and "jscal" don't seem
to find the appropriate device file. I've googled without apparent
success, hit www.usb-linux.org, RedHat's help files, browsed around in the
kernel source doc files without getting clued in to what is missing.
Anybody on list have a clue they might share? Failing that, any ideas on
trouble shooting this connection?
Thanks in advance.
