[ale] Linux and Virii

There are few virii that can attack a Linux machine with the same
veracity as a windows machine. The OS has a better security model than
windoze.

That said, Linux machines hosting Samba can participate in spreading
virus payloads by providing a parking spot to hide in. I have been using
f-prot to scan all samba space for virus' and it works very well. In
fact, you can smbmount remote windows machine drive and scan those as
well. It's an excellent product. For the home user it's free. For the
small business, it's very inexpensive (less than a flock of Norton's or
McAfee's). For the enterprise, it is very reasonable and does more stuff
than just command line. The basic version support being called from cron
and can update it's signature file from a cron job (it even includes the
line to put in the cron job). 

There are several other AV solutions for Linux. ClarkConnect recommends
a different one. I am not familiar with it. Back in my pre-Linux,
computers really suck days, I used f-prot and never got bit with all the
stuff other people were getting hit with.
