[ale] The horse finally learned to sing...

I was pleasantly surprised to see that too.  I felt that "Technobuddy"
wasn't being much of a "buddy" at all to either people like us OR the
general computing population by refusing to discuss Linux in his
columns.  So many times, his columns have seemed to lament this or that
Windows-related problem with no more than a shrug.  I am happy that this
new column is as positive as it is.

Also, Popular Science (Nov. 02) has an article about a Linux-based
open-source VDR (www.cadsoft.de/vdr) that actually talks up the concept
of building and "insidious entertainment appliance" yourself.  The
article even goes on to mention the EFF.
