...a little more explanation of Worker is in order:

Worker is a "classic" style, 2 window file manager utility (GPL) modelled 
after a powerful Amiga tool called Directory Opus. It is extremely simple 
to use, compact, very fast (X windows, not Gnome/KDE dependent), employs 
really intelligent GUI handling, and is extremely customizable and 
extensible.

I think even shell shamans and perl-fectionists will appreciate the 
conveniences offered in this GUI file handler. Any command or script 
process can easily be fed selected / displayed file listings, as a list 
or recursively, with or without paths, by assigning the process to a 
button click and/or hot key in the interface. While Worker's 
inter-process integration is not yet as complete as Dir Opus is with 
Amiga's Arexx, the potential is still there for users to expand on the 
interface and capabilities.

Compile / Install is straightforward, but you do have to compile it with 
the usual:
#  ./configure
#  make
#  make install

Current version is 2.5

Any files or directories mounted on any of the file system devices will 
be accessable to Worker.

Customizing the configuration is, indeed, pretty easy. And besides 
assigning operations to hot keys and buttons,  the file type recognition 
allows you to customize actions for double click, drag & drop, etc.
