[ale] InetD is lying!!

I just got a copy of SuSE 8.0 for the poweredge server I was asking
about recently (thanks for the help, all) and I am trying to get it set
up. Everything seems to work, but I can't get the SMTP port open to
accept incoming mail. I'm using Postfix instead of Sendmail, have the
SMTP port open in inetd.conf.

If I try to mail to the system, and look through the log files on the
machine that I used to send the mail, I see this:

Jul 11 15:11:47 reddwarf postfix/smtp[11193]: 00A13E7C:
to=<user at x.x.x.x>, relay=none, delay=1, status=deferred (connect to
x.x.x.x[x.x.x.x]:
Connection refused)

Likewise, if I try to telnet to port 25 of the machine, I see a
"Connection Refused"

Whne I nmap the machine, port 25 does not show up as open. Yet,
Inetd.conf is adamant that the SMTP port is active.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Josh
