[ale] moving to the command line

My bible when I was first learning UNIX was the O'Reilly book "UNIX in a
Nutshell". It has great, short explanations of all the basic commands
and how to use them. I went through it and played with any command I
thought would be useful. I haven't found a better book for getting to
know all of the shell programs.
