I'm running 2.2.16 as well on my machine. For a reference base, what
motherboard/cpu/memory combination are you using? If you compile for
i586, does the kernel uncompress and lock up also? With 300+ recompiled
on other machines you seem to have 'outcompiled' me.
Where did you get the source? I have Redhat's 2.2.16-3 kernel running
on my PII/350 w/ an intel 440BX motherboard, using 128M RAM.
Out of curiosity, what options are you defining in your lilo.conf file?
Are you specifying any experimental parts of the kernel?
