If someone could help me with any of the following, I would be 'most'
greatful!

Problem 1:	When I (re)install lilo I get the following error msg:

------------------------------------------------------
ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc
ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/scripts MAKEDEV.ide
Warning: BIOS drive 0x83 may not be accessible
------------------------------------------------------

This msg repeats three times. I can, in fact, access /dev/hdc though (?)
I have ran /usr/src/linux/scripts MAKEDEV.ide and as far as I can tell all
it does is remake all the ide devices that were already there to begin with
(same major/minor etc.)
This does not fix the problem (error msg every time I reinstall lilo).

The system I have is as follows:
90Mhz intel Pentium
Trition I chipset on a microstar mother board
pci ide interfaces (two) built onto mother board
96M ram
four (4) ide hard drives (linux installed on fourth drive (/dev/hdd))
/dev/hda= 2.1G W/D Caviar (1 vfat partition)
/dev/hdb= 2.1G W/D Caviar (1 vfat partition)
/dev/hdc= 1.2G W/D Caviar (1 vfat partition)
/dev/hdd= 720M W/D Caviar (1 ext2 partition)
Slackware 3.1.0
kernel 2.0.28

dmesg:
hda: WDC AC22100H, 2014MB w/128kB, Cache, LBA, CHS=1023/64/63, DMA
hdb: WDC AC32100H, 2014MB w/128kB, Cache, LBA, CHS=1023/64/63, DMA
hdc: WDC AC31200F, 1222MB w/64kB, Cache, LBA, CHS=2484/16/63
hdd: WDC AC2700, 696MB w/128kB, Cache, LBA, CHS=1416/16/63
(there is no reference to 'DMA' for the last two drives (?))

fstab:

/dev/hda1 /dosc vfat defaults 1 1

/cdrom

As I said earlier, I CAN access /dev/hdc1, but if I do something like
find / -name *.xpm it seems to hang once it gets to /dev/hdc1 (hard
drive led goes out and I have to hit cntrl-c to stop the 'find'.)

Problem 2:

I have 96 M of ram but when I do 'free', all linux see's is 64M. I know
about the append="mem=96M" in lilo.conf, BUT I already have an
append="cdu31a=0x230" for my sony cdu33a cdrom drive and I have discovered
that lilo.conf don't like two append statements! If I comment out the cdrom
append and use the ram append, then linux see's the 96M ram just fine, but
it fails to find my cdrom. I have tried entering these two append
statements in all different places in lilo.conf but it seems to be an
either or situation, either I can see all my ram OR I can see my cdrom, but
not both. Does anyone know of a way of adding both on one append line? If
so please shed some light on it for me.
Thanx in advance for any help on these two problems!
