[ale] cdrom with boot disc

I currently use lilo to boot my PC and have an append statement in the 
/etc/lilo.conf file so that my cdrom is properly recognized.  My question
is, When I boot from a bootable floppy my cdrom is not found and is not
mountable.  What is it I need to do to get my cdrom recognized when booting
this way?
