weird sendmail problem (fwd)

Look in /usr/local/lib/mail for aliases, mailertables, and other
config files. Also I seem to remember so sort of weirdness with
older versions of Slackware having some strange entries in the
/etc/gateways file but I don't think this should affect your
sendmail operation. What version of sendmail are you using?
sendmail-8.X or the original sendmail-5.X+IDA package? Have you
tried creating a fresh sendmail.cf file from the sources? You
have I assume done a strings on the sendmail binary to see if
there is anything odd in there or have you like a good system
admin compiled your own version? I learned this the hard way
once many years ago to never trust someone else's precompiled
versions of important systems utilities like sendmail. I chased
a weird error for quite a while only to discover someone had made
a bad choice at compile time and it was using that compile time
	option as the default.
