I am just now getting a chance to respond to all the email that has been
flying by on the gtlinux at cc.

I've noticed. I've had about 6 new folks already.

Yeah. I was hoping that an Atlanta based group would develop as well. The
informal GT Linux Enthusiasts Organization was something that kinda
happened. I just coordinated it. It was by no means my show although I do
have an all too prominent tendency to take over when I stand in front of a
large group of people. People with big mouths are just that way I guess :-)

Folks have suggested that we should expand the GT group to an Atlanta group
so that we don't exclue Linux enthusiasts that are not part of the "Tech
community". That's a great idea but the truth is that until someone actually
steps forth and drives this thing, its just not going to get off the ground.

Neither Greg nor I really want to head up something like this. And from my
experiences working with the GT ACM, being the guy who is in charge of
setting the agenda for each meeting is a pain in the butt. Mainly becuase
most folks will just set back and expect you to run everything when in truth
you really need to be the organizer and get *them* to do most of the work.
That's how these big groups work.

In all honestly, my phd research is taking up a lot of my time and I don't
think that I would be an effective ringleader.

I do plan to continue to develop the Linux Enthusiasts group here at Tech
and I do intend to generalize most of the topics so that anyone that is not
part of the Tech community can still benefit from it but I don't feel
comfortable trying to coordinate something that is going to be as big as an
Atlanta Linux Users Group would be. Its just too much work right now. Someone
else will have to play ringleader for that.

In other news, since no forma group has developed. I am going to go ahead
and start planning for another informal meeting here at Tech. This one will
be probably after Thanksgiving and definitely be schedule to start no
earlier than 7pm. Probably 7:30pm so that all the working works can still
make it. Agenda has not been set yet. I'm welcome to all suggestions.
