I've had two Fords, and they were OK considering their condition when I
bought them. I have nothing against Fords. But for the sake of argument,
let's say that:

1) My brand new Ford kept screwing up in new and innovative ways that
were almost impossible to diagnose, consuming all my time and energy
   and worry.

2) Research told me that 2% of Ford owners experienced this level of
lemonocity, compared to 0.2% of owners of other car brands.

3) Ford's manufacturing process has known severe flaws (equivalent to
nVidia's refusal to open-source their drivers and interfaces, as
opposed to nVidia drivers being in the kernel).

4) Alternatives to Fords were economically available.

Given those four things, why in the WORLD would I buy another Ford? Am
I trying to prove an open mind or something?

If you go on Ebay and type in `radeon graphics card`, without any
quotes, you'll be able to choose between many, many new and open box
Radeons. You can still get Radeons without fans. My fanless Radeon 5000
series does office graphics and youtube movies just fine.
