Steve,
Do you just have the receiver instead of a transceiver because you don't
hold a license? I just recently got my General license in May and at the
moment just have a TD-H6 and TD-UV5R handheld transceivers, but I'm looking
for a mobile setup to put in the car, despite the wife saying she doesn't
want a big tacky antenna on the car (her words). I am also looking for a
desktop transceiver to set up in the house. Right now, I'm capped at 10W as
the max on the TD-H6 and 8W on the TD-UV5R, which works for joining the
local repeater and can RX the Space Coast repeaters but not enough to TX
and reach.
