In all fairness, SUSE is using it because of Red Hat.  Red Hat jumped off that cliff first - probably because the arrogant and deranged fool...errr...I mean developer who created it works for them.

Since we've jumped into religion, might as well toss in politics. One
of the things I respect about the American ideal is that the
protections on freedom from religion also apply to freedom *from*
religion. I am free to exercise my faith, and my friends are free to
exercise theirs. They can be Americans and exercise no faith.

That's why I dislike systemd; it closes the door to so many other
faiths. I have had to work around the problems it causes and seen no
benefit for using it. That doesn't mean others don't see a benefit,
but the "large enterprise" stuff I've been doing doesn't really need
it. The only reason they use it is because that's what Red Hat and
SuSE use.

I prefer openness and equality in my politics and my operating system.
