Yep. Embrace your new non-deterministic magic black box system overlord
when you must deal with systems where it is present. For networking, my
choice was DHCP because of issues just like this: not being able to
manually specify my configuration and getting it to apply or stick. I feel
for those who cannot make the same choice; I have no idea what you can do
to solve the problem.
