I had a Bad Experience with Signal.  It apparently auto-syncs your contact
list with Google. That means that any un-synced contacts on your phone will
vanish.  My contact list went from 600 to 30 in a matter of minutes.  Not
Fun.

Of course, if you don't sync your contacts to Google, you take
responsibility for backing them up.  So it was more a minor annoyance than
a hair on fire problem.
