Hmm.  My 22000W Generac cost about $8500 (installed).  Backs up the
whole house with auto-start and automatic transfer switching.  In terms
of $/KW I feel like I'm ahead.  ;)  Add that to the UPSes that protect
my computers during the 30s of downtime between line-out and generator
switch-over and I'm good to go as long as AGL keeps pumping.

PS: Yes, technically I only get 19.5KW because it's connected to my
natural gas line instead of running off propane, but I still think I'm
ahead on $/KW.
