Ha!
Twm (still use it for single window tools) led to fvwm(f%+ked view window
manager was its snarky name). Somewhere I found 3d desktop that was
literally a desk with file drawers. Click on drawer an it opened and a
rendering of 3 tab folder appeared. Drag the mouse across the top to
"thumb" the folders to read through the names. Click to open folder and
repeat process across "sheets" to find files to open. I've dug around and
can't find it or the name any more. Open files and folders piled on the
desktop. Printing was done by "dropping" the file on the printer image.
Really cool graphics.
Then I actually bought a license for CDE.
Thought kde was a nice improvement but didn't like the proprietary license
on the core libraries. So gnome happened. I've cussed at every major change
until I got the hang of it and found the keyboard shortcuts.
I still cuss at it.
I cuss at most all computers now.
They deserve it.
I hate grass. Don't care who walks on the mud.
