[ale] OT - Replacement Gate Remote

So can you just stand near the gate of someone's apartment with one of these things and wait for someone to open it, then have your own opener to come and go as you please? Maybe you should build them a new opener with RPi, Bluetooth, and public key encryption!

Yes but I’m actually looking for a gate opener for my condo building’s main gate which is why I’m somewhat constrained. The gate remotes and the garage remotes use the same kind of technology so what works for garage doors typically works for gates as well. Opening by hand isn’t really an option when there is a motor driven arm involved and even if it were my 80+ neighbor that is looking for a new remote probably wouldn’t be able to do it.
