That's not possible though. the game runs on LWJGL which is an externally
managed opengl library. The api remains uniform between platforms. They
cannot favor one over another here without rewriting a LOT of code.

And have you seen the minecraft codebase? It's a tangled mess that nobody
can ever touch without breaking everything.
