[ale] One NIC, two IP addresses on different VLANs?

Raj,

Have you tried, that so easy to test

ifconfig eth0:1 172.16.1.10 netmask 255.255.0.0

Then try to another ip on that network. If it doesn't work then

ifconfig eth0:1 down

Now I am thinking it might not work because of the vlans.

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD,  an app you want to
package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE Studio
a try.
