[ale] help - question - can you put mint 13 on HP Win 8 PC

Hi all,

My Dad is considering buying an HP Win 8 laptop.  Since I really dislike Win 8, I suggested to him that we either wipe it and put on Win 7 or that we set up Linux, or maybe do a dual boot.  He's still thinking about it.  Then, I thought, what if the computer is required to have UEFI to run Win 8?  And, if it does have UEFI, will it even be possible to put Mint 13 on it?  I have no experience with UEFI.

Any thoughts?  Any help is appreciated.
