My uber-important desktop is running 10.04 LTS. I love it.
I have been playing with a new maxed out MacBook Pro, that I have
to admit, is growing on me, although I share windows management gripes
from it and Ubuntu 12.04.
We have a junker laptop running Mint that is shared by a couple of us for
misc tasks, and I put 12.04 on my 18.4" Sony, and I put 12.04 on a Asus
Seashell that I keep near the couch at home for B.S. surfing tasks while
watching TV or such.
Mint: Seems like Standard Linux/X.org UI. + Some MS-Windows-ish
thoughts. Usable. I like.
Ubuntu 12.04 on NetBook used for very simple tasks. Works.
Pretty slick for a "toy computer" or web surfing appliance.
Ubuntu 12.04 on a laptop that will soon be uber-important again,
and I will need to be rock solid and usable for a few weeks
as a development system while travelling, ie: a power user
development workstation:
My eyes are getting glazed over, my head tilts back,
as an epic rant channeled from Aaron's inner muse starts
rising from deep in my throat as the flames spit forth
from my eyes: The ill-concieved attempt of the elegance
and polish of Mac's interface, with a lobotomized set of
features and infuriating "automatic" window management,
needs to be removed from the gene pool, quickly.
I'm probably going to put 10.04 back on it.. while I play with Archos,
Mint and straight up Debian.
