Ahh. ENOTADAEMON, then.

OP needs to adjust the script to disassociate from its controlling TTY
in order for it to not leave those fds open, then...  Does Asterisk have
an option that tells it to perform the UNIX double-fork and TTY
disassociation?

Ah, broken things are so wonderful, yes?  It's seriously not that hard
to get rid of a controlling TTY and all bloody dæmon processes should do
that...
