[ale] Ubuntu recommendations

Since Ubuntu is based on Debian, I'm going to guess that it means this:

Debian does not support a 'dist-upgrade' between versions while
skipping a version. That is, if you are running Debian Etch and try to
a dist-upgrade to Debian Squeeze[1], it will probably fail miserably
and no one will bother to help you. The supported method would be to
dist-upgrade Debian Etch => Debian Lenny => Debian Squeeze. So if
there is a release between Ubuntu 10.04 and 11.04, then you should
update to the intermediary version first.
