[ale] OT: Disposal of standard fluorescent lamps?

Good luck with this.  I researched extensively last fall and could not
find a place in the Atlanta metro area that will take household
quantities (e.g. 4-10) of fluorescent bulbs.   After deciding that
they were too hazardous for my back yard I wound up feeding them into
the waste stream.  Ugh.
