AFAIK, LibreOffice won't replace OpenOffice.org until the most current 
releases of distros start rolling out.  not sure what version of Ubuntu 
that will entail.

most people use them for new software that has not gone through the main 
channels or won't otherwise be backported to a distro.  (there's a 
better definition I'm sure)

as this will be a direct replacement in most distros, I don't see the 
need.  new releases will carry the LibreOffice package natively as the 
current release now carries OpenOffice.org.
