[ale] GIS in 2012 - What's New

Why are these people pushing proprietary garbaggio like ARCGIS on an open
source mailing list? PostGIS ( http://postgis.refractions.net/ ) and QGIS
( http://postgis.refractions.net/ ) are free, open, and accurate. What
they don't tell you about ARCGIS is that it cannot store geographic
information accurately -- every time you bring up a map, the points on that
map will have moved randomly by as much as a couple of meters. This is an
inherent limitation of ARCGIS buried deep in the software and is unlikely
to be fixed in the near future. The open alternatives do not suffer from
this trouble.
