Additionally most mics are mono (single-sleeve) connector where Line is
usually stereo (dual-sleeve) connector.  Line-out to Line-in is the best
way to go for a cabling solution...

If you have sound card with LINE OUT and LINE IN jacks this will be the
best. Some sound cards has jumpers on it that allows SPEAKER OUT to be
switch to LINE OUT. I'm talking old school now probably :)
